Until a long time ago, samue was sold as a specialized type of kimono for Buddhist monks. Kurume-ori samue is a type of everyday wear that can be worn in ordinary households. Production began in the latter half of the Showa era, and up until that point few people wore it as everyday wear, but with a production background that includes dyeing, weaving, and sewing, it gained a reputation for its high quality and was sold nationwide. The Kurume-made brand and trust have earned it many repeat customers, including many overseas fans. It is used by a wide variety of people, including monks, Japanese restaurants, inns, martial artists, potters, writers, painters, and calligraphers. * Fabrics that are woven after the yarn has been dyed are generally called yarn-dyed. Many plain fabrics from overseas are piece-dyed (white fabric that has been dyed later) for better production efficiency, and many of them have poor fastness, so if you wash them and hang them out in the sun, they may get sunburned and become unwearable immediately, or the wash water may become cloudy. The durability of the inherent color of a dyed product is called dye fastness.
