This lens filter creates an impressive, cinematic atmosphere in night scene and backlit photography, with a soft effect equivalent to 1/4 of the Black Mist No.1. The gentle soft effect allows you to leave it on as a protective filter. It features a multi-coating to prevent flare and ghosting, as well as water-repellent and oil-repellent coatings to repel water droplets and dirt, enhancing its function as a lens protector. Kenko's flagship soft filter, the "Black Mist," is made with a very fine black diffusion material sandwiched between optical glass. It reduces contrast in highlights and shadows, and diffusely spreads light in night scenes and other bright conditions, creating a nuanced, cinematic look reminiscent of a movie scene. The Black Mist provides a cinematic texture directly in-camera without retouching. The "Black Mist Protector" offers a soft effect equivalent to 1/4 of Black Mist No.1 and 1/2 of Black Mist No.05. The softened effect allows for constant use, subtly enhancing scenes with backlighting or strong light sources. It is also recommended for video shooting. The filter features a multi-coating to reduce flare and ghosting, water-repellent and oil-repellent coatings to repel water and dirt, a slim frame design to minimize vignetting when using ultra-wide-angle lenses, and a lens cap can be attached.
