Super Mario RPG, originally released on the Super Famicom 27 years ago, is making a comeback on Nintendo Switch with completely revamped graphics. ■Story■ Mario heads to Bowser's Castle to rescue the kidnapped Peach. Just when he thinks he's safe after defeating Bowser, a giant sword suddenly falls from the sky. The sword pierces Bowser's Castle, and the impact sends Mario flying, forcing him to set off again to find Peach. Along the way, Mario learns that the "Star Road," which grants people's wishes, has been destroyed by the sword that pierced Bowser's Castle, and its fragments, the "Star Pieces," have been scattered throughout the world. Together with the reliable companions he meets on his journey, an adventure begins to collect the Star Pieces and restore a peaceful world where wishes can be granted. ■Explore the field by making full use of jumps■ Use Mario's signature "jump" action to solve puzzles and explore various fields and dungeons. ■Companions who adventure with Mario■Maro, a self-proclaimed frog with a fluffy body, Geno, a messenger from the sky who has come to Mario World to retrieve the Star Pieces, and Bowser and Peach, familiar faces from the Mario series, will join you on your adventure. ■Battle Using Action Commands■ "Action Command Battles" require you to time your actions correctly when attacking or defending. During battles with monsters, successfully executing an action command allows you to attack all monsters or reduce incoming damage to zero. In this game, successfully executing action commands consecutively creates a "Chain," boosting your allies' abilities and giving you an advantage in battle. For those unfamiliar with the system, there's also support that displays a "!" mark at the perfect timing. Additionally, a gauge fills up each time you successfully execute an action command. When this gauge reaches 100%, the three characters in battle can combine their powers to unleash a special "Three-Person Attack." ■Additional Features■ After the ending, you can rematch some of the bosses you encountered during your adventure. These bosses are all powered up and will be much more challenging. In addition, a "Monster List" has been added, which records various information as you battle monsters, and a "Sound Player" has been added that allows you to listen to the BGM from both the Super Famicom and Nintendo Switch versions at any time. (The Sound Player becomes available after the ending.) An "Enjoy" difficulty setting that makes battles easier and adventure support functions have been added, so even those unfamiliar with battles or RPGs can enjoy the game.
