◎Contents◎ [Episode 1 Included] ■"Border:1 Ghost Pain" In 2027, one year after the end of the Fourth Non-Nuclear War, a massacre using a self-propelled mine and the shooting death of a soldier suspected of accepting bribery in arms sales occur in Newport City, still suffering from the effects of war. Under the misty rain, Public Security Officer Daisuke Aramaki raids the cemetery in search of the soldier's cyberbrain. Pointing a cold gun at his back is Kusanagi Motoko, a super-wizard-class hacker and fully prosthetic cyborg who belongs to the Army's prosthetic unit, the 501st Organization, working to clear the name of their murdered superior officer.

But Kusanagi isn't the only one pursuing this case. Batou, a man with "sleeping eyes," suspects her of being the culprit in the bombing and is pursuing her. Detective Togusa of the Nihama Prefectural Police is investigating common threads between the shooting and the prostitute murders. Lieutenant Colonel Kurtz and the cyborg agents of the 501st Organization are also keeping a close eye on Kusanagi's movements.

What they pursue lurks in the chaos of cyber society, where the "facts" before their eyes intersect with the lost "truth."

Kusanagi's instincts are now activated, driven by her own future and the ideals she holds dear.
