these ("metal frame, glass lens", black ones) are indeed polarized, but the polarization is weak. A lot of dimming is just the glass colorization. The parts touching the nose are made from some soft plastic, but it's still too narrow, while the glasses are too wide (145mm) for my not-exactly-thin face.
