Woody Joe 1/100 Cutty Sark (with sails) Wooden Model Assembly Kit
This tea clipper was built in 1869 at the Scott & Linton shipyard in Dumbarton, England.
It was a typical mixed-wood and iron ship, with an iron frame clad in elm skin, teak decks and deckhouses, iron main and fore lower masts and all lower yards, and pine for the other spars.
The ship's owner, John Willis, a former captain, had long desired to own a ship capable of winning the China-UK tea clipper race, the highlight of British shipping at the time.
To fulfill Willis's expectations, the Cutty Sark participated in tea trade races for 10 years, and its remarkable speed in a transoceanic race against its arch rival, Thermopylae, in 1872 has been passed down through generations.
It is currently on permanent display in Greenwich, England.
The hull structure and parts remain the same, but a new fabric sail has been added.
The rope tensioning process is clearly explained with detailed color diagrams.
