An Alto Horn Ideal for British-Style Brass Bands
A member of the saxhorn family, the alto horn was invented by Adolphe Sax and plays in the alto range. Its bore is wider and the overall design is larger, in the British style, for a richer tone.
Unlike student model alto horns, which have a bore closer to that of a trumpet or cornet, this horn's timbre is clearly distinct from that of a trumpet or cornet when played in an ensemble. It's ideal for elementary school brass bands as well as those taking on the challenge of playing in a British-style brass band.
While the main components, including the bell, are made of brass, the inner tube of the removable tube is made of nickel silver, which provides just the right amount of resistance. The combination of these materials and British-style design produces a mellow yet rich sound.
Includes alto horn, dedicated semi-hard case, mouthpiece, instruction manual, fingering chart, warranty card, and cleaning cloth.
