This is a plastic model assembly kit of the Yubari, a light cruiser that is equipped with 5,500 tons of heavy armament on a compact 3,100 tons hull and has introduced various technologies not seen in conventional cruisers, attracting the attention of naval personnel not only in Japan but around the world. The bow section with large sears and flares, the tower-shaped bridge, and the induction chimney that combines two exhaust channels into one are all thoroughly modeled in a style that had a great influence on subsequent Japanese naval vessels. Yubari is known for its bravery in the First Battle of the Solomons in 1945, but this kit has been recreated in its appearance in 1944, when its anti-aircraft weapons were strengthened and it became even more terrifying.
